Rachel Valletta (she/her)
Senior Manager of Climate Programs
Rachel serves as the Senior Manager of Climate Programs with Second Nature. In this deeply collaborative role, Rachel manages the University Climate Change Coalition (UC3) and supports intersectional climate action initiatives focused on resilience planning, cross-sector climate action, and climate justice and equity.
Prior to joining Second Nature, Rachel served as Environmental Scientist with The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA. As Director of the Climate and Urban Systems Partnership (CUSP) project, she led the strategic direction of a large, cross-sector educational network dedicated to improving city residents’ understanding of and engagement with climate change issues. Rachel is excited to bring her experience supporting community-centered sustainability efforts to new university partners.
Rachel earned her Ph.D. in the Earth and Environmental Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania, where she developed novel techniques to document the Antarctic Ice Sheet’s response to climate change. As Energy Fellow with the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy Research, Rachel studied deep decarbonization pathways with the Pennsylvania Environmental Council. She’s a backpacking, dog, and coffee enthusiast.
