Alija Blackwell

Climate Justice Fellow

Alija is the Climate Justice Fellow at Second Nature. In this role, they develop resources to support the implementation and evaluation of equitable and just climate action planning initiatives for Second Nature’s Climate Leadership Network of over 400 colleges and universities. Currently, Alija directs the Oneiric Lab, a strategic foresight and multimedia design consultancy. As a foresight strategist and creative technologist, Alija has catalyzed policy innovation at the Natural Resources Defense Council, Aspen Institute, U.S. Department of Education, among other institutions across the social impact sector. Their background in community environmental planning, data science, and digital media informs their participatory approach to engaging communities in systems design and scenario building towards resilient futures. Additionally, Alija serves as the Next Generation Foresight Practitioner Fellow with the School of International Futures based in London and is a Changing Climate Resident at the Santa Fe Arts Institute. In their creative practice, Alija enjoys circus arts and climate storytelling.
