Alex Kiefus

Climate Programs Fellow

Alex is a Tufts University Fellow for the Summer of 2021 helping Second Nature manage their Solutions Center and its various initiatives. She provides research and administrative assistance by organizing and analyzing university sustainability projects and by tracking partnerships between Second Nature, campus representatives, and service providers.

As a rising Junior at Tufts, Alex double majors in Sustainability and Spanish. Her majors inform her interest in implementation strategies for the  sustainable development of supply chains and infrastructure. At Tufts, she spends her time working with TREE, Tufts for a Racially Equitable Endowment, which pushes Tufts to divest from the prison industrial complex, Tufts Students for NARAL, which advocates for reproductive rights on campus and in Massachusetts, and Teach-in-CORES, which volunteers with a local immigrant center teaching English and citizenship classes to Central and South American immigrants.

When she’s not doing schoolwork, participating in those clubs, or hanging out with friends, she’s rock climbing and managing the climbing team as this year’s captain. Originally from Arizona, she has found a new home here in Boston, where she hopes to stay after she completes her undergraduate degree.
