The Intentional Endowments Network (IEN) and Second Nature are pleased to offer registration and/or travel support for those in need of financial assistance to attend the 2024 Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit.
We hope this support will enable greater participation in the Summit, and offer access to those who otherwise could not afford to join us.
Please read the guidelines below carefully before submitting your request for support.
What Does This Support Cover?
We are able to offer full and partial support. Full support will cover travel, accommodations, and registration costs to attend the Summit. Partial support will cover a portion of expenses (i.e. travel stipend and registration, just registration, etc.).
We have limited funding available for registration and/or travel support. We ask all individuals interested in this support to honestly assess their financial needs and societal privilege, and take that into account when determining if able to cover expenses related to attending the Summit, or if full or partial support is needed to attend. This will allow us to ensure we are assisting the most people with the most need.
Who’s Eligible to Request Support?
Any Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color (BIPOC) stakeholder, regardless of institution type, that needs financial assistance is welcome to apply.
IEN and Second Nature are prioritizing financial assistance for stakeholders within Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), regardless of signatory or membership status within the Climate Leadership Network or Intentional Endowments Network.
How Will Requests Be Considered?
Requests will be considered based on:
- Interest in and commitment to higher education sustainability, including climate, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion work,
- Response clarity,
- Financial need,
- If an attendee has received financial support to attend the Summit previously,
- If the individual is from an institution that is a member of IEN or a Second Nature signatory,
- Institution type represented (priority given to individuals representing HBCUs and TCUs), and
- The order in which requests are submitted (priority given to requests received by the October 15th priority deadline).
A committee will review all requests and make a decision on how to allocate financial support by November 17th.
Rules & Guidelines
In order to receive support, individuals must:
- Identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color (BIPOC) ,
- Attend the full Summit, taking place February 11-13, 2024 in Long Beach, CA,
- Share a short write-up of their experience at the Summit (i.e. sessions attended, key learnings/takeaways, connections made, etc.),
- Share a minimum of one post on social media (LinkedIn or Twitter preferred), blog post, or other public communication regarding the Summit (This public communication can utilize an organizational or individual platform).
Timeline
- The Priority Deadline for Support is October 15th (Requests received before this date will be given priority).
- The Request Form closes November 1st.
- First Round Awardees will be notified no later than November 17th.
- If additional funding becomes available, Second Round Awardees will be notified no later than January 8th.
