Welcomes Tim Carter as 3rd President
Second Nature is pleased to welcome Dr. Timothy L. Carter who will join our 20-year old organization on September 22nd as the new President. Dr. Carter will take over, following David Hales’ retirement this month after long and dedicated service to Second Nature and its mission. Join us in thanking David and welcoming Timothy.

Call for Proposals: 2014 Climate Leadership Awards Award Design
Deadline Extended: August 27
Second Nature is calling for award design proposals for its annual 2014 Climate Leadership Awards. Signatory institutions of the ACUPCC can submit their proposals by August 27, 2014. The stipend for the creation of the awards is $180.00 per award (a total of $1260.00 for 7 awards). Read more »

2014 HBCU Green Report
The recently released 2014 HBCU Green Report is a collaborative project of the Building Green Initiative at Clark Atlanta University, and the North Carolina Institute of Minority Economic Development. It examines and showcases the often overlooked sustainability activity at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
The Cost of Delaying Action to Stem Climate Change
This report, released by the White House Council of Economic Advisors in July, examines the economic consequences of delaying the implementation of policies to reduce the pace and ultimate magnitude of Climate Change, emphasizing the need for policy action today.
USGBC Green Apple Day of Service
Kick-off your fall semester by conducting a campus sustainability assessment, which can help the community prioritize activities, garner support and plan for the future. Organized by the The U.S. Green Building Council’s Green Apple program, this project can easily be integrated into Campus Sustainability Day celebrations.

Second Nature
Second Nature works to create a healthy, just, and sustainable society beginning by transforming higher education. Second Nature is the supporting organization of the ACUPCC, and directs programs in financing, capacity-building, and climate resilience.
The ACUPCC is a partnership of 684 colleges and universities in every state and the District of Columbia who have committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare students through research and education to solve the challenges of the 21st century.
